Uncle Tree highly recommends this concert footage from a band close to home, and near to my heart -- KANSAS

I had Phil Ehart's ...

I had Phil Ehart's Mom for Home Economics my Jr year in H.S. ERA 1980 we would force her to talk about Phil! Been a lifelong fan of Kansas seen them 3 times never seen a tighter band live.

Steve Walsh has ...

Steve Walsh has triumphed to the other side of voice damage. It is clear here that his chords are broken but he has managed to re invent his style to still hit the notes (in a more soulful and raspy way). It's a far cry from his immaculate singing days when his voice was like heavenly syrup but oh well. The entire band seems like they went to boot camp to train for this performance. It being shot on 16mm film and having a good mix doesn't hurt, either! Such an amazing band, even without Livgren. Rich Williams is a complete beast on that PRS!

Just saw Kansas ...

Just saw Kansas with my Wife in St Augustine FL. In August. Patty was blown away, with their still very futuristic wall of prog. David Ragsdale was out shredding any guitar player alive. On an electric Violin. Clearly the best band of the day. Fans for life. P.S. I love my 40th Anniversary Kansas T-shirt.

does anyone have any BOSTON/TOM SCHOLZ shows that you can upload, preferably footage?

This is a great ...

This is a great performance all the way around (see 41:30) but I don't think I've ever seen black people at a loss for rhythm. Progressive rock seems to really mess these poor folks up! They be grooving and dancing like awkward white muthafuckers!

Kansas is one of the greatest bands of all time. Their mix of symphony and rock and roll is second to none.

My first concert as ...

My first concert as a kid was watching this band - circa 77 or 78 - still to this day I have yet to hear a tighter live performance!

in 1989 they played ...

in 1989 they played to a small bar venue (The Boiler Room) in Monterey CA. In the middle of the show and lightening storm took out the power. They came down into the crowd and had drinks with the common folk. I had a beer with Walsh. What a nice guy. Power came on about 30 minutes later and they finished. A lot of bands would have just packed it in, but these guys are professionals.

Steve still does OK, especially for how long he has been singing his ass off, he still got the soul does the tunes justice.
